FAQ: Does the SMTP server have to be on the same machine as the Locklizard Server software

For publishers hosting on their own servers, the SMTP server does NOT have to be on the same machine.

However, if the SMTP server is located on a different machine, the publisher must make sure the server can be accessed without a secured authentication, as it is not supported by Safeguard. That’s why it is prefered to be on the same machine, as it is easier to be secured by the administrator.
