Error Message: Invalid authorisation specification: Access denied for user ‘tomcat’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)

This error is triggered by the mySQL database – the username/password for mySQL are not correct.

You need to create a mySQL account for Tomcat (with password ‘tomcat’) so the admin panel can access the database.

To do this follow these steps:

  1. Open the command line console for mySQL (from the mySQL start menu group);
  2. Login to mySQL with the root mySQL password;
  3. Assuming that the locklizardlicensing table already exists (if not, run the LL sql script provided with the installation archive), type the following command:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON locklizardlicensing.* TO ‘tomcat’@’localhost’ IDENTIFIED BY ‘tomcat’; -force

The above command will create a tomcat user, with the password “tomcat” that has all rights on the locklizardlicensing database.This account will be then used by the LockLizard application for the mySQL connection.

If the above command does not work then use MySQL Administrator (GUI) and add the tomcat user there with all privileges to the database.
